The role of the individual and our potential to transform

the world we live in

The philosopher and social reformer Rudolf Steiner (1861 – 1925) sought to bring about a radical transformation of society. This was based upon a deep understanding of the threefold nature of the human being which corresponds to the three areas of any society: Cultural – political/legal – economic. During the three Dartington conferences of 2017, 2018 & 2019 we wish to bring these ideas to bear upon the situations that prevail so destruc vely everywhere in the world. The two days of the conference have been structured to support everyone who attends in exploring their own questions, within me for individual reflection on what they have heard and also to connect with social threefolding impulses through focussed sharing groups. Opportunities will arise for some ideas to be taken forward beyond the confines of the conference itself. The whole event takes place on the impressive campus of Dartington Hall Estate which was restored from its ruined state by Dorothy and Leonard Elmhirst. They brought many initiatives which fostered new thinking about education and social reform. Today under the new CEO of the Dartington Trust, Rhodri Samuel, much of the vision of the Elmirst’s is being actively renewed. We are pleased that he has agreed to give an introduction at the beginning of our event.
