Sections at the School of Spiritual Science

The General Anthroposophical Section is the center of the School of Spiritual Science. From this Section, all the different avenues of spiritual research have their starting point. Anthroposophical study of the human being, evolution and history of humanity, and the science of initiation form its core research subjects.

The Section for Mathematics and Astronomy
sees projective geometry as a foundation of a new morphology and physics. The themes of this section are closely related to the pedagogical, medical and agricultural sections: They all research the relationship between microcosm and macrocosm, and the place of the human being in this context.

The Medical Section devotes itself to medical and pharmaceutical research, as well as to training and continued education of doctors, nurses, pharmacists and therapists. Two core questions are: How does health arise? What is the nature of disease and healing? This section also works politically, promoting the continued use of complementary medicine.

The Natural Science Section attempts to push beyond the limits of modern science. It is founded on the scientific method of Goethe as developed by Rudolf Steiner. The task is to see if science can remain true to this world but honor supersensible reality through observing the phenomena of the living world.

The Agricultural Section researches basic farming principles with specific reference to the bio-dynamic method of agriculture. This research is augmented by collaboration and public representation.

The Pedagogical Section sees education as the foundation of social progress. The seeds of self determination, tolerance and peace, human rights and international understanding are sown in education. This is the art of Waldorf pedagogy. The chief task of the Pedagogical Section is pedagogical research and development based on the anthroposophical image of the human being. The Section supports ideas and initiatives to address the generational problems and the changing needs it perceives in children.

The Youth Section sees itself as an important place for meetings, exchanges and motivation. It is a place to develop and begin to realise initiatives. It is oriented towards current questions and future challenges. It supports young people who have urgent questions in order that they may transform these into actions and at the same time come to a greater and deeper understanding of the world.

The Section for Social Sciences investigates human relationships in the three spheres of social life: economic, legal and cultural/spiritual. It researches these spheres in the context of questions such as: What responsibility does a citizen bear for the good of the world?

The Performing Arts Section integrates the arts of eurythmy, speech, drama and music, bringing them to life on stage. Based on a spiritual-scientific image of man, its aim is to make visible the complete human being, giving expression to supersensible forces and inherent laws that form the human constitution.

The Art Section
embraces painting, sculpture and architecture, furniture design, glass engraving, color studies and plant-color research. Art therapy and art education form part of the collaboration with other sections. It works at furthering Rudolf Steiner’s artistic ideas.

The Section for Literary Arts and Humanities
has the motto: In thought, develop sight. It works in context of the humanities from linguistics to philosophy and beyond through literature and poetry, linguistic investigation and working with language as the link between content and form.
